How Aaland got its name

It seems that there is much curiosity about how Aaland got it's name. Truth to tell, it's a very simple story. With business to book and no Company to book it through a name was required and FAST!

In time-honoured manner a map was obtained, eyes covered and a pin stuck in it. The pin landed on the islands of Åland in the Baltic and, after anglicisation to Aaland, that was it. The Åland Islands are here:
